Pedo CDE and workshop on sedation in dentistry
Mysore/Mysore: The Department of Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry, JSS Dental College and HospitalMysuru, had recently held a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) program and hands-on workshop titled “Sedation in Dentistry” at the Sri Gowrishankara Auditorium within the College premises.
A total of 41 delegates, including new graduate students from JSS Dental College and other dental colleges across the state, attended the event.
The CDE was inaugurated by Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER). Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manjunatha stressed the need for regular scientific events to keep dental practitioners up to date with current techniques.
Dr. B. Nandlal, Professor and Head of Department of Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry, JSS Dental College and Hospital, welcomed.
Dr. Seema Deshmukh proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. S. Ravindra, Director and Dr. BR Chandrashekar, Deputy Director (Academics), JSS Dental College and Hospital were present.
Dr. Padmanabhan Yuvaraj, Director of Dental Academy and Reader, RVS Dental College & Hospital, Coimbatore, gave guest lectures on “Choosing the right type of sedation”, highlighting through the refresher and refresher course the importance of understanding the different levels of sedation, choosing the right type of sedation in dental practice, and selecting oral, intranasal, inhalation and intravenous sedation in specific situations.
The second session focused on “Understanding Nitrous Oxide Inhalation Sedation”, with the resource person emphasizing the parts of the Nitrous Oxide Inhalation Sedation Unit, the mechanisms of In-unit safety and safe application of nitrous oxide inhalation sedation in various dental procedures, with an emphasis on pediatric applications.
During the subsequent session, he also conducted hands-on training for the participants, where they were given the opportunity to use and administer nitrous oxide inhalation sedation, giving them confidence in using the device in their daily practice.
